She stands with the small camera at her waist as if she were the picture herself. The cream lace robe hangs open like a door someone forgot to close. Her skin catches the light as if she’d struck a deal with the sun.

The analogue camera dangles from its straps between her hands — silver and black, old enough to hold stories no one needs to hear.

She holds it just where it covers her intimacy. Not out of modesty, but because it fits. As if knowing the best photography happens when you stop trying.

The bedroom smells like morning light and unmade beds. Wood floor under bare feet; the wall behind fades into a warm blur. Somewhere to the left hangs something dark — a picture, perhaps, or a tired mirror.

Her gaze goes straight on, through the lens, through you. No smile, no play. Just the quiet certainty of standing exactly where she belongs — camera in hand, light on skin.

Between artist and artwork, between what you see and what you feel. The camera becomes the mediator; she becomes the message.

Sometimes photography is honest only when it photographs itself.
