Nude photography
A woman, a room, a little light.
For me, nude photography isn’t a genre, but a reduction. A woman, a space, light that falls as it falls. No contrived poses, no soft focus, no effects that conceal what’s already there. What remains is the form—and the decision not to make it more beautiful than it is.
Most of these works are created over the course of years, on location: in apartments, hotels, stairwells, and places intended for other purposes. Some images later become calendars, others books, and a few fine art editions or one-of-a-kind pieces. What they have in common is that each is produced in a limited edition. Numbered, signed, and with a finite run. Once the last number has been assigned, there will be no reprints.

Who’s Behind the Pictures
Martin Wieland is an Austrian fine-art photographer from Neunkirchen in Lower Austria. For decades, he has been working with the human form—simplified, often in black and white, with strong contrast and precise lighting. His work appears in coffee-table books such as “The Book” and “An Other Book,” as well as in limited-edition calendars and prints.
His work has been published internationally, including cover features for *Playboy South Africa* and articles in various trade magazines. His visual language remains consistent: no gimmicks, no staging for its own sake. One form, one light, one decision.

Martin Wieland’s nude photography is available exclusively as a limited, signed edition—as a framed print, a calendar, a book, or a one-of-a-kind piece. Each series follows the same principle: limited edition, numbered, and no reprints.

“Limited” means “limited”
Each work is published in a fixed print run. Once the last copy has been sold, there will be no reprint—no “we’ll print more,” no second run in a different size. Once a work is out of print, it remains out of print.
These nude photographs are not mass-produced, but rather released as a limited edition with a clearly defined run. Each print is numbered and signed. The [Modern Madonnas](https://martin-wieland-arts.com/modern-madonnas/) are always one-of-a-kind—each work exists only once.
That is the difference between a print and a work of art: A print can be reproduced indefinitely. A work of art has an end.
On the wall, not on the hard drive
An image on the screen is just an image on the screen. It disappears into a folder, into a feed, with the next swipe. A printed work hangs on the wall and stays there.
The individual prints are available in two formats: SIGNED.FRAMED.ICONIC. – 13×18 cm, hand-signed, limited to 199 copies, and framed in a 20×30-cm mat frame. And the Collector’s Edition —large format starting at 30×40 cm, framed upon request. The “Black & White” and “All in Color” calendars, as well as the art books, have become collector’s items over the years.
