Aesthetic nude photography by and with Martin Wieland
Where light, shadow and trust merge into art.
Nudity is not a state. It is an attitude. A moment of absolute honesty. When the last shell falls away, only one thing remains: you. Pure. Unadulterated.
Maybe you’ve been toying with the idea for a while. You see these images – powerful, sensual, almost sculptural – and ask yourself: “Could that be me?” The answer is a clear, loud yes. But getting there requires more than just a camera. It requires a gaze that reveals rather than exposes.
This is where I come in. I am Martin Wieland. And I don’t take photos of naked people. I create works of art in which you play the leading role.

Why nude photography? A journey to yourself
Forget everything you know about traditional photo studios for a moment. This is not about passport photos or stiff poses in front of a gray background. Nude photography – or fine art nude, as we call it in the international art scene – is one of the most demanding disciplines of all. Why? Because it uses trust as a currency.
Many of my clients come to the studio in Neunkirchen with a certain amount of nervousness. That’s completely normal. We are used to hiding our “flaws”. We pull in our stomachs, choose flattering clothes, use filters on social media. These filters don’t exist in my studio. And that’s where the magic begins.
When we work with light and shadow, when we emphasize contours and draw lines, something happens in your head. You suddenly no longer see yourself as the sum of your supposed faults. You see yourself as a form. As aesthetics. As art. You take this new self-confidence home with you – long after the shutter has clicked.
Martin Wieland: More than just the man behind the camera
Who am I that you should entrust me with this intimate moment?
I am a photographer, artist and observer. My base is Neunkirchen in Lower Austria, but my visual language is understood worldwide. I have been working with the human form for decades. My works, such as the illustrated books “The Book” or “An Other Book”, are not simple collections of nude photographs. They are studies of character, strength and sensuality.
My philosophy in three pillars:
- Aesthetics before provocation: a good nude photo doesn’t have to shout. It has to whisper. I often work in black and white because color is often distracting. Black and white reduces the image to the essentials: The drama of the light on the skin.
- The “safe space”: A session with me is a protected space. Respect is not an empty word here, but the foundation of my work. You should not only feel safe, you should feel seen.
- The imperfect is perfect: in projects such as “Modern Madonnas” (in collaboration with Dietmar Halbauer), I show that art has to push boundaries. We combine photography with drawing, reality with abstraction. Your body doesn’t have to conform to any standard to be photogenic. It just has to be itself.

Your shoot: From the first tremor to the “wow moment”
You’re probably wondering what a nude photography shoot is like. Many people are afraid of awkward silences or strange instructions. I’ll take that worry away immediately.
Phase 1: Getting to know you Before even one spotlight comes on, we’re talking. I need to know who you are. What do you want to express? Strength? Fragility? Eroticism? Or just pure aesthetics? We clarify the boundaries. Nothing happens that you don’t want.
Phase 2: The light setup I work extremely precisely with light. The setup is often more important than the camera itself. We use shadows specifically to model shapes. A well-placed shadow conceals more than it shows and leaves room for the viewer’s imagination. That’s the difference between a snapshot and a mural.
Phase 3: The session We start slowly. You don’t have to show everything right away. It is often the veiled, implied poses that have the strongest effect. I will guide you. I’ll tell you exactly how to move so that the light loves you. You will notice: After ten minutes, the nervousness disappears. You get into a flow. It no longer feels like “posing”, but like dancing while standing still.
Phase 4: The result When you see your pictures for the first time, you will be surprised. “Is that really me?” That’s the sentence I hear most often. Yes, it is you. Just seen through my eyes.
Fine Art, Prints & Books: Take the art home with you
My work doesn’t end on the memory card. Digital pictures gather dust on hard disks. Real art belongs on the wall or in a fine book.
- Limited edition art prints: Get my free works as large-format prints. Perfect for collectors looking for something special.
- Your personal book: We can create an exclusive photo book from your shoot. Just for you. Or for someone close to your heart.
- Publications: My calendars (“Black & White”, “All in Color”) and illustrated books are now collector’s items. They show the range of what is possible in nude photography.

Frequently asked questions about nude photography (FAQ)
What distinguishes Martin Wieland from other nude photographers?
Martin Wieland focuses on artistic depth rather than cheap effects. His style is characterized by strong contrasts, often in black and white, and a sculptural use of light. He has been published internationally (e.g. Playboy South Africa cover, various trade magazines) and is firmly anchored in the art scene. His studio in Neunkirchen offers professional conditions for high-end results.
Do I need to have modeling experience in nude photography?
No. 90% of the people in front of my camera are not professional models. It’s my job as a photographer to guide you so that the pictures look professional. You bring your body, I bring the know-how for posing and lighting.
Will my pictures be published?
Only if you expressly wish to do so. Discretion is the top priority. Many customers only have pictures made for themselves or their partner. If we find a picture so unusual that it would fit into an exhibition or a book, I will ask you separately for permission. A “no” will be accepted without discussion.
How much does a nude shoot with Martin Wieland cost?
As each shoot is planned individually (duration, make-up artist, type of post-processing, prints), there is no off-the-peg package price. Contact me for a preliminary consultation and we will put together a package that suits your ideas.
What is “Modern Madonnas”?
This is a special art project by Martin Wieland and Dietmar Halbauer. Photographs are subsequently artistically processed and overdrawn. The result is unique pieces that dissolve the boundary between photography and painting.
5 reasons why you should book this nude photography shoot now
Maybe you’re still hesitating. “I need to lose five kilos first.” “I’m too old.” “I’m not photogenic.”
Let me give you five counterarguments:
- There is no “perfect” time. Your body is telling your story right now. Every scar, every curve is a chapter. Don’t wait for a version of yourself that may never exist. Celebrate the version that is alive now.
- A boost for your ego. Nothing – absolutely nothing – gives you back as much self-confidence as a picture in which you look like a Greek statue or a movie diva.
- An investment in memories. In 20 or 30 years, you will look at these pictures and be grateful that you had the courage to capture your beauty.
- Professional leadership. You are not alone. You have a nude photography expert at your side who knows exactly what he is doing.
- Art instead of kitsch. You don’t get embarrassing photos that you have to hide. You get art that you will be proud to display (or at least proud to own).
