Each work in the Modern Madonnas series is a unique original – analog, genuine, tangible. There is no retouching here, it is layered, torn, applied. Layer by layer, different materials are applied, reworked, destroyed and rebuilt until the surface not only develops depth, but also its very own dynamic.<\/p>\n
The result: contemporary collage art with character – lively, authentic, inimitable.<\/p>\n

On Strings<\/h3>\n
Half body, half cage. A woman in profile, her head bowed, her skin bathed in red\u2014behind her, a black wall crisscrossed by bright vertical lines like taut wires. The white outlines carve her out of the darkness, tracing her shoulder, chest, and abdomen, only to tear them back in again in the same stroke. Red creeps over the lines, settling where it hurts. The painting smells of ink, of damp paper, of a night spent working too late. Marker, watercolors, overpainting on cardboard\u2014signed, one-of-a-kind. The threads hold her; no one cuts them. You take it because this standstill between holding and tearing won\u2019t let you go. <\/p>\n

The creative process<\/h3>\n
There is no fixed scheme in the Modern Madonnas series. Each work is created from the interplay of material and intuition. The collages are not planned in advance – they develop in the process.<\/p>\n
Traces of manual work, small irregularities, intentional imperfections – the process remains visible here. The works live from the human touch: from visible interventions that show that it was not a machine that worked here, but a person. It is precisely this imperfection that makes it an authentic example of contemporary collage art.<\/p>\n
Each picture is created in close collaboration: the photographic basis is created by Martin Wieland, while the collage, overpainting and material combinations are developed and implemented by his art director Dietmar Halbauer. This creative exchange makes each work a multi-layered, unique original. <\/p>\n
