Technique & Materials

Every work in the Split Screen series is a unique original – analog, real, tangible. Nothing is retouched here. Things are layered, torn, applied. Layer by layer, different materials are added, reworked, destroyed and rebuilt, until the surface develops not just depth but its own dynamic.

The result: contemporary landscape art with character – alive, authentic, unrepeatable.

The Land of 1000 Fences

Grey, pink, yellow — in that order the surface builds, no color yielding to the next. The fence from the photograph holds its structure while the pencil covers it with lines that no longer serve any purpose. Some posts nearly vanish under wax crayon, others stay pure photograph. Sand and shadow at the bottom of the image are the only thing the shot leaves untouched. Whoever hangs this owns the only one.

The Creative Process

There is no fixed formula in the Split Screen series. Each work grows from the interplay of material and intuition. The pieces are not planned in advance — they develop in the process.

Traces of handwork, small irregularities, deliberate imperfections — the process stays visible here. The works live from the human touch: from visible interventions that show a person, not a machine, was at work. That imperfection is exactly what makes them an authentic example of contemporary landscape art.

Every piece is created in close collaboration: the photographic foundation is established by Martin Wieland, while the collage, overpainting and material combinations are developed and executed by his art director Dietmar Halbauer. This creative exchange makes each work a layered, unique original.

Collector Value & One-of-a-Kind Character

The Split Screen series is aimed at art collectors who value authenticity. Every work is a genuine original of contemporary landscape art — created by hand, signed, and available in this form only once. The deliberate choice of materials, the visible working process and the combination of different techniques guarantee the unmistakable character of each piece.

The included certificate of authenticity keeps this value documented and verifiable long-term.

Find more works from the Split Screen series here.

Framing

The right frame doesn’t just protect your artwork — it amplifies it. With our custom frames, every piece takes on a new presence and becomes a genuine focal point, whether in a living room, office or gallery.

We use exclusively high-quality acrylic glass with 99% UV protection, keeping colors from fading long-term. The glass is anti-reflective, lightweight and shatterproof — the same standard used in leading museums.

Collector’s Tip

Fine art prints, not one of a kind: Urban Chronicles – limited edition, signed, numbered, with certificate of authenticity.

Same handwriting, different world: Modern Madonnas – collages and overpaintings based on nude photography. One of a kind, artistic, not explicit.

Five curated images, one series: Five Works – framed, signed, limited.

Looking for a smaller entry point: SIGNED.FRAMED.ICONIC. — 199 pieces, framed, signed, four weeks online. Then gone.

Or get the photo books: To the photo books.

Shipping & Delivery

Shipping is free worldwide. Every work is professionally packed, insured and shipped directly from the studio. All items are shipped neutrally and discreetly — with no visible indication of the contents. For deliveries outside the European Union, additional customs duties, import fees or taxes may apply. These costs are not included in the purchase price and are the responsibility of the recipient.

Art knows no borders — but sometimes, unfortunately, paperwork does.

Sunny Days

No sea in the picture, only its promise — loungers in a row, an umbrella promising shade no one collects. Over it, the red, cluttered, tight, thrown on, without explaining why. It covers the struts, it creeps across the sand, it holds to no boundary the photo sets for it. The surface of the baryta paper takes the paint marker like a second skin, smooth, but not gentle. Neither of them quite captures it — not the photo, not the line, only their collision. Maybe at yours.

Keeper of His Secret

Black and white and yellow — the picture needs no more contrast than that. The ink runs across the metal like a second skin, while the photograph beneath it fades. Pearls hang in straight lines, split by a hand that walked through and never looked back. The man stays background, the cigarette closer to his face than the camera. The yellow wins against the grey.

Hop on

Grey first, then violet, laid on hard, no mercy for the edges. The lettering on the roof is the last piece of fact before everything runs. Drops collect below on the pavement, where photography stopped counting long ago. A silhouette stands in the doorway, but it adds nothing to the scene except itself. Both stay side by side, unresolved. Maybe at your place, maybe nowhere at all.

Enter Now

Two shapes of tape, yellow and black, arranged like wings — but they’re stuck, not flying. Ink bleeds pink across the image, hits stone, ignores it. Wax crayon underneath, sparse, tossed between the lines. ENTER NOW, in capitals, more order than invitation. Whether the tape means birds or warning stays open, both possible, both irrelevant.

Then gone.

De Fence 2

Black, gold, scratches — the order doesn’t matter, the result counts. A wire winds around the post, both possible, both unexplained: securing or binding. Behind it, blurred, what was once a fence dissolves, now just the shadow of a line. The splatter on the paper lands at random, no rhythm, no intent. The post carries its history on the surface, not in the material itself. That’s it — nothing more.

Booked Out

Three chairs, one table, Parisian bistro-grey in black and white. Then orange, cutting across everything, no regard for outline or order. Booked Out stands there stamped, almost official. But the wicker stays empty, the paint is the only guest. Either reading works, neither matters — warning or invitation, the image won’t say. Once. That’s it.

Same technique, different starting point: Urban Chronicles – one-of-a-kind analog works from urban space.

One of a kind, artistic, not explicit.

Five curated images, one series: Five Works – framed, signed, limited.

Looking for a smaller entry point: SIGNED.FRAMED.ICONIC. — 199 pieces, framed, signed, four weeks online. Then gone.

Sold Out

Applied in thick, uneven strokes, yellow spreads across the chair backs, the seats, the armrests. The wall stays gray, hard, unmoved by the color laid over it. Between the chairs and the stone lies the tension — not in either one alone. “Sold Out” stands fixed, unmoving, while the paint still looks wet. Two states in one image, neither explains the other. Exists, then never again.

Many of the photographic originals used in Split Screen are also available as large-format fine art prints in the Collector’s Edition – limited, signed, collected internationally.

One of a kind, artistic, not explicit.

Five curated images, one series: Five Works – framed, signed, limited.

San Francisco Blues

Black and violet run into each other, with no telling which covers which. The tram tracks run into a white that allows no more perspective, only surface. Pedestrians, cars, a FedEx sign — remnants of a city that doesn’t vanish under the overpainting, but no longer leads it either. Lacquer shines where the paint sits thickest, goes matte where it has run out. Not a place anymore, a state. Whoever hangs this has the only one.

Many of the photographic originals used in Split Screen are also available as large-format fine art prints in the Collector’s Edition – limited, signed, collected internationally.

Then gone.

Melted Postcard

Opaque white first, then red, then blue — in an order no one needs to follow. The sky is no longer sky, it’s a surface something happened to. Below, the umbrellas, exact, orange and blue alternating, as if the color above had nothing to do with it. It does. The line between overpainting and photograph runs straight through the air, without warning. Maybe at yours.

Many of the photographic originals used in Split Screen are also available as large-format fine art prints in the Collector’s Edition – limited, signed, collected internationally.

One of a kind, artistic, not explicit.

Five curated images, one series: Five Works – framed, signed, limited.

Looking for a smaller entry point: SIGNED.FRAMED.ICONIC. — 199 pieces, framed, signed, four weeks online.
